There are many different methods of dieting and weight loss programs. Whatever the method and the diet it all aims basically at loosing weight in the end and achieving your weight target. Some people respond better to certain weight loss methods while others do not and need something different to get the desired result. It all depends on your lifestyle and your metabolic rate and the effort that you put into the weight loss program. Anyway some useful dieting hints could generally help those who are interested in doing something about the extra weight that they are carrying around.Â
Start your diet program in the morning
If you really want your diet to work then you should start your program first thing in the morning. Before your first cup of tea or coffee you should have a cocktail of lime juice and honey in a glass of warm water. This really kick starts your diet as it increases your metabolic rate which has slackened during the night while you were resting and is one of the most useful dieting hints. Another important morning rule is never to skip breakfast. Your metabolism will remain at a low unless there is fuel to burn in your system, and for this you need a good breakfast. Make sure that you have a cereal, skim milk and a fruit. You could also have toast and the white of an egg to make this a complete nutrition packed meal. Half and hour of exercise like aerobics, a jog, using the treadmill or going for a walk, would be even better as this is the best time (before break fast) to make the most of your exercise too.Â
Cut down on food or burn calories with exercise
It is much better to burn the extra calories with exercise than to cut down on your food. Of course this does not mean that you gorge on all the wrong foods and make things difficult for your self. The number of calories that you need will depend on your height and present weight, your age and build and the kind of work that you do. If you want to loose weight you will obviously have to cut down on the basic number of calories you eat. A better way is to eat according to your requirement and then exercise to burn off the fat and a fair amount of calories. This way you will build up muscle mass and not be under nourished because of a poor diet. Another important dieting hint is to chew your food well and to eat very slowly. This helps in breaking down the starch content in your food while you are chewing your food and hastens the digestion. Â
Some useful dieting hints
Try not to eat anything after 7:30 PM. Your metabolic rate drops toward the evening and then it is time for bed, so you will burn less calories during the night and store more fat. Let the last meal also be the lightest one.
Instead of eating large meals at regular meal times, like lunch and inner, break up your meal and have several smaller meals during the day. This helps the body to maintain a good metabolic rate. The smaller meals that you have should be ones that will help you to burn more fat and not stuff like cakes and pastries and fast food items that are dripping with calories.
Try to avoid eating your meal while doing something else like watching TV. This way, not only will you enjoy your meal, you will eat less and savor your food better.Â
Sometimes the body misinterprets thirst for hunger, so if you feel hungry at an odd time try and have a drink of water instead of eating something immediately.
Another very useful way to avoid eating the wrong kinds of food is to avoid keeping them at home. Instead, only store foods that are healthy and with low fat and as few calories as possible. Keep fruits, nuts, full grain bread, low fat cheese, cucumbers and stuff that you can nibble on without adding to the calories.Â
